Since the archbishop has called on those in the archdiocese to step up in helping women meet the challenges of unwanted or unplanned pregnancy, that “we must each take up the responsibility to create communities where these children and their parents can flourish,” I can only presume that going forward the collection plates will be overflowing with funds to meet those needs (maybe selling off a gold scepter or two to get the ball rolling?)? That the volunteer roster will become so long that those looking to help may have to be turned away? That those long shunned and marginalized will instead be welcomed with open arms? That pressure will be put on our civic leaders to create an ever more just and equitable society for those families to flourish within?
That, or it’s just pretty words signifying nothing.
